				Groups > 12th SFGA The 12th Special Forces Group was a U.S. Army Reserve Group 
				located in the central region of the United States. It had 
				battalions and companies located in several states. [1]  The 12th Group was originally constituted on July 5, 1942 in 
				the United States Army as the 6th Company, 2d Battalion, First 
				Regiment, 1st Special Service Force, a joint Canadian-American 
				organization formed in World War II. The 12th SFG(A) was activated on March 24, 1961. The 
				headquarters was first located in Chicago. On January 19, 1964 
				it was moved to Oak Park, Illinois and then later, on September 
				1, 1970, to Arlington Heights, Illinois. Basing. The group headquarters was based in 
				Illinois with outlying battalions and companies in several other 
				states. Deactivation. The 12th SFGA, along with the 
				11th SFGA, was deactivated in 1995 as a cost cutting measure. 
				Many of the Soldiers of both reserve groups would join either 
				the
				
				19th or 20th Special Forces Groups of the U.S. Army's
