The 13th Special Forces Operational Detachment (SFOD), along the 12th and 16th SFODs, under the cover unit identification of the 8231st Army Service Unit was moved to  Camp Drake, Japan. 1st Special Forces Group was officially activated on June 24, 1957 at Camp Drake. 1.
